Born in Long Beach in 1956, Edward “Butch” Twining is the middle child of Edward Sr. & Patricia Twining. Prior to moving to Huntington Beach in 1966, Butch lived in Seal Beach. He attended both Village View and Harbor View elementary schools before Marina High School where he graduated in 1974.

After enlisting in the United States Air Force and being Honorably Discharged in 1977, Butch attended California State University Long Beach where he studied Civil Engineering/Construction Management and Business Finance. While attending college, Butch began his 45-year career at Twining Inc. (fka Twining Laboratories of Southern California Inc.). In 1994, Ed Sr. retired, and Butch assumed the role as President of Twining Inc., with revenues in the $7 million range at the time. Butch purchased the company in 2000 upon the passing of Ed Sr. In 2000, Twining had two (2) offices/laboratories in Southern California: San Diego and Long Beach. By the end of 2021 when Butch retired, Twining had seven (7) offices/laboratories in California: San Diego, Long Beach, Fountain Valley, Riverside, Ventura, Sacramento, and Concord. Additionally, Twining has a nationally recognized Forensic Laboratory headquartered in Boulder, Colorado. Today, revenues exceed $75 million, and the company employs over 360 people.

It is Butch’s goal to bring his 45 years of business experience, budget management, fiscal responsibility, strategic partnerships and planning experience to the Huntington Beach City Council and the City of Huntington Beach.
